Anything To Please

September 21st, 2009

We are all on a personal path of awakening to our higher self. Let\’s call that “self” our Wise Woman. She is the non-judgmental observer part of ourselves who watches over our life\’s drama and gives us knowing nudges. Some call this awareness our inner voice, our authentic self or just plain intuitive knowing. Our ego, however, that finely formed false identity we\’ve molded and used for so long, rarely listens to the quiet voice of our Wise Woman. The ego\’s mask has hardened by our posture of performing its familiar acts. How can we listen to our Wise Woman when... Read More

7 Natural Ways to Relieve Bloating and Eliminate Water Retention During Menopause

September 15th, 2009

Menopause brings on symptoms such as hot flashes and mood swings, and for a lot of women retaining water and the resultant bloating is of great concern because it can lead to weight gain. Unfortunately, HRT has been known to cause water retention in some women. The journal of British Menopause Society published this is March of 2006: Drospirenone is a new progestogen in hormone replacement therapy with anti-mineralocorticoid activity. This anti-mineralocorticoid activity counteracts water and sodium retention, helping to reduce the likelihood of fluid retention that some women experience with hormone... Read More

What\’s Great About Guys?

September 15th, 2009

My men\’s group has been meeting regularly since 1979. We began meeting when we all lived in Marin County, California and felt the need for a supportive environment to discuss the changes going on in our lives. We\’re seven guys who now range in age from 61 to 71. During the last 30 years, two guys have dropped out and two guys have been added. The last “newcomer” joined the group 19 years ago. We now meet for a 5 day gathering four times a year. It\’s something that we all look forward to and never miss. We met recently in Seattle were T lives now and during our time together,... Read More

Seasons Running Amuck

September 15th, 2009

I saw a friend the other day at Wally World. After the normal greetings and checking each other out to see who had gained the most weight, I asked her what her mission was that day. Her reply, “I\’m looking for some good Easter bargains.” I stared at her wondering if she\’d had a nip or two. After all, this is the same woman who believes pictures of the moon landing are fakes, but Saturday Night Wrestling is totally real. Not being able to stop my curiosity, I probed further. “Easter? Ah, it\’s September, hun. Isn\’t that a little advanced shopping?” I believe in... Read More

Pay Attention to the Two M\’s and Your Business Will Soar

After ten years of running a 7 figure online business, I have concluded that success can be narrowed down to two specific areas of mastery. I call them the two M\’s – Mindsets and Marketing. And I want to make a BOLD statement here and say that if you can focus your efforts on mastering the Mindsets and the Marketing in your business, you will be successful! Life is Sweet in Hershey

September 14th, 2009

It should come as no surprise that a family vacation to Hershey, Pennsylvania, will meet with an enthusiastic thumbs up from the entire clan. What you may not realize is that you can have a fantastic time sans kids as well, as I did on a recent girlfriend getaway to the home of the chocolate bar. My former college roommate and I were sorely in need of a little R&R. A stressful couple of years involving injuries and illnesses for both of us had left us a bit worn out. Our “prize,” we promised ourselves, would be a few days of pampering when we were both completely back on our feet. That... Read More

TWO-SIDED ANSWERS

September 14th, 2009

The room was lovely, the bed inviting, the architecture interesting, and the philosophy appealing. That was my impression as we checked into a newly minted green-hotel in a resort town where we were eager to spend time relaxing. But when we checked out, lovely wasn\’t on my mind. Protective glass on the combined soaking tub/shower looked terrific, but giving a child a bath was impossible; oversized ultra-modern faucets made face-washing without watering the floor an Olympic challenge; and shin-high pointy edges on a platform bed covered by a flowing duvet made room navigation perilous. There... Read More

How I lost six pounds on a two-week Asian vacation: eat like the Chinese

September 14th, 2009

I recently returned from a two-week tour of China. What a fascinating place! Hiking on the Great Wall, viewing the Terracotta Warriors, cruising the Yangtze, touring fabulous Shanghai – these are just a few highlights of the trip. And the people – it was hard not to notice how slender the Chinese were. After eating for two weeks as the Chinese do (we were on a tour that ate at local restaurants with authentic Chinese food), I can see why they are so slim. The Chinese have long integrated many of the tips we have learned for losing/maintaining weight: Size of Plates: We ate family style at... Read More
