See Yourself Thin

April 14th, 2008

Being able to visualize or “see” yourself “thin” is an essential element of permanent fat removal. Whether we are aware of it or not, we visualize every day. As we process our thoughts, we project them as pictures onto the screens of our mind. Daydreaming, fantasizing, and mental rehearsals are examples of visualizations. Many of us dream of having a new job, going on a hike in the woods, swimming in the warm waters of the Caribbean – all pleasant thoughts and images. There are times, however, that we get caught in the negative web of mentally reviewing and rehearsing our fears. Have... Read More

How Ill-Mannered Are You?

March 11th, 2008

After I did a bit of research on etiquette, I was shocked to learn that my family is made up of a bunch of ill-mannered heathens. And, if I were to be perfectly honest, I\’d have to say that I\’m in violation myself and therefore, not a candidate of the Emily Post Manner Award. How does your family measure up?| The Rules of Etiquette One should: * arrive at least 10 minutes early unless otherwise specified. (Whatever happened to fashionably late?) * pass food from the left to right. (So if someone is on my left, should I pass it around the table?) * pass both the salt and pepper together,... Read More

How to Stay Motivated!

November 15th, 2007

How to Stay Motivated! A few NABBW members, friends and even a family member have asked me, “What to do? How can I to stay motivated?” Ahh … the $64 million question! People often say that motivation doesn\’t last. Well, neither does bathing -that\’s why we recommend it daily. ~ Zig Ziglar There\’s your answer! Zig Ziglar said it best. We have to renew our enthusiasm, motivation, Joie de Vie on a daily basis! I sip my morning coffee and think about where I\’m going, how I\’m getting there, and then I read something that fires me up and carries... Read More

The Greatest Love of All

October 15th, 2007

Self-love and weight loss go hand-in-hand, or thigh-to-thigh, if you will. I know how it feels not to like myself and to lead a life of compromise. It\’s a big, fat drag. And now I know how it feels to like – even love myself. I promise you, it\’s a whole lot better and there\’s no pastry, chocolate bar, or basket of bread that\’s worth it putting self-love on the back-burner. Love is an art that requires conviction, faith and daily practice. Self-love is within you, always available – ready to comfort and embrace. Fully accept yourself this St. Valentine\’s... Read More

The Bathroom: No-Food Zone, Meditation Center, Art Gallery!

September 12th, 2007

Bathrooms are an excellent place to escape to and find peace in. A Natural No-Food Zone Obsessed with food? Can\’t stop thinking about it? Go straight to the bathroom! Do not pass go. Generally speaking, you won\’t find a refrigerator in a bathroom (if yours has one, you better rethink your weight loss strategy and write me for help.) Nor will you be tempted to bring a burger and fries into the shower or bath with you. Think about it! Meditation Center. Light Your Incense and say Ommmmmm! Turn the top of your toilet into an altar. Light a candle or two, some incense, place a... Read More

Under Attack!

August 7th, 2007

Every so often, someone says something to me about my newly found thinness that is upsetting and sends me reeling. (Yes, it\’s been six years since I permanently removed over 50 pounds, but it still feels newly found. Until I have lived more years thin than fat, I shall consider myself newly thin.) Attacks have been made on my weigh-of-life – some critical of my eating style, some critical of my tight jeans, some lash out over my arched eyebrows. When we change in any way, shape or form, it sometimes upsets other people\’s apple carts. They are unnerved. It\’s important... Read More

Forgiveness: A key ingredient in the Kingdom of Permanent Fat Removal

July 11th, 2007

Many of us have been known to scoff down one piece of cake, beat ourselves up, feel rotten to the core, and then have another slice of the Devil\’s food to soothe. Our fat cells multiply – our pants tighten – we feel bad (we believe ourselves to be bad) – yet we indulge in still another serving of forbidden food followed by the inevitable platterful of punishment. Results? Broken zippers; broken dreams. Holding a grudge against oneself – being unforgiving for what we perceive to be horrific dietary crimes and misdemeanors – can only impede our progress. There... Read More

Don\’t even TRY it!

June 15th, 2007

The most sabotaging word in the English language and therefore, in the Battle of the Bulge, is the word TRY. The implicit possibility of failure is always there. You\’ve left yourself a loophole and somewhere in the back, or the front, of your mind you may hear a little voice saying, You might not, you will not, do you really think you are going to make it? There are other words and phrases that you can use instead of “try” that have a positive association to them. Eliminate the word “try” from your vocabulary; and substitute the words: Explore Discover Learn Search Investigate Find... Read More
