Apronisms: Pocket Wisdom for Every Day
EllynAnne Geisel, author of the Apron Book, gives us Apronisms: a small and tidy book brimming with wisdom. Flip through the hand-held little treasure and allow it to impart words like “Enjoy yourself it’s later than you think,” or “Happiness is good health and a bad memory.” Often we are encouraged to celebrate the simple— embrace the minutes that if allowed to progress unnoticed, will do just that and then disappear— Geisel feeds the reader morsels of sound advice framed in the insights she’s gathered along the way in her own life. Apronisms makes a nice gift accompaniment or stocking stuffer; it can be slipped to a friend or family member as a pick-me-up or placed, you guessed it, in your apron (provided you own one and occasionally wear it—which I do not, but it would fit nicely in the back pocket of my jeans!) to quiet the mind and reassure. Anything that interrupts the hectic pace— the chaotic schedule— is worth having around to aid with the notion that, “there is more to life than increasing its speed.” Amen.
