Shirley Meerson  On “The Importance of Choosing Foods for Stress Reduction”

By Shirley Meerson, CHWC ~ NABBW’s Ageless Wellness Lifestyle Associate

Stress levels these days have increased dramatically…unfortunately.

Have you noticed that during the times of intense stress your willpower flies out the window?  And then you eat to comfort yourself.

Most of us know that we are doing it but prefer to take the instant dopamine rush of wrongful eating.

Hey, splurging is OK by me, but put on the brakes if you know it is a habit.

Evidence shows that diets high in processed foods can increase anxiety.

And then picking the wrong foods to eat will add to increasing your stress!

Food can be your friend — or enemy. It can make your stress levels go up or down.

Your calm starts in the kitchen. Or rather it starts when you go shopping.

Food influences your mood, so be practical and take responsibility to lighten up your stress load.

I’m so passionate about this topic because I also am affected and for decades have studied, taught, and practiced systems to reduce stress for myself and with clients globally.

Knowledge is power – you have the control to shop, cook, and eat the foods to reduce your stress naturally.

If you’re always eating junk, you will feel like junk. And this leads to stress, anxiety, and other big-time medical conditions.

Choose foods that reduce your stress and anxiety.  Here’s a partial list of the best foods for stress reduction.

  • Leafy Greens
  • Dark Chocolate
  • Chamomile
  • Turmeric
  • Nuts and Seeds
  • Fatty fish
  • Yogurt
  • Green tea

These foods each contain results that may regulate cortisol, reduce inflammation, contain mood-enhancing neurotransmitters, antioxidants, or help cognitive function.

I hope you’ll try these delicious foods to ease your stress and anxiety.

Today I’m talking about food for stress reduction. I also discuss other mindset techniques to lighten up and manage stress on my website. (Use the hyperlink in this paragraph to get there immediately.)

For additional help, I’ve also got a short YouTube video on this subject of “Food Is Medicine,” which I invite you to view, too. Go to: https://youtu.be/PlkdPnvq_f0

If you’d like to discuss your eating habits – I’ll guide you in this process to understand the importance to your health & wellness. Message me at  https://www.shirleymeerson.com/contact/ to schedule your wellness upgrade.

Sending you my best wellness wishes always,

Shirley
