Wake Up Your Life

If there\’s one thing author Doris Roper knows a thing or two about, it\’s how a nagging pattern of instability can stay firmly rooted when the right issues are not addressed. Surviving infidelity more than one time in her life, she clearly understands how unfavorable circumstances will continue to replay and increase in intensity unless change is attempted. This takes clear vision and an open mind.

Roper had choices when dealing with her relationship pain: to label herself “victim” and wile away her days in self-pity, embrace the anger invading her spirit until bitterness set in, or to take a fresh look at herself to name the low self-esteem that kept her repeating the same mistakes. She chose the latter.

In Wake Up You Life, Roper endeavors to inspire women to take responsibility for the less-than-desirable situations that repeatedly plague them, and to employ forgiveness and a optimistic outlook to make the most of their lives. One of the most notable features of this book are the “Smart Woman Quotes” that are dispersed throughout. I especially like the creative quip by Eleanor Roosevelt, ” Women are like tea bags. You don\’t know how strong they are until they get in some hot water.” Amen.
