A Baby Boomer Holiday
The Gift of a Journal
If you have never taken the time to journal, I\’d like to introduce you
to this practice. For many years I read books that suggested I record
my thoughts and feelings. Sometimes I was asked to answer a series of
questions related to the topic. Do you know what? I never bothered. Why
should I do this, I wondered? After all, I reasoned, I knew what the
answers would be. Writing would not reveal any secret agenda. It would
simply waste my time. How wrong I was!
I am
going to ask you a series of questions. I invite you to take a few
minutes to answer them. I would suggest you use a beautiful notebook
and record other thoughts and feelings over time. If you come back to
this site each month, I will address all of our topics with some
questions for you. At the very least, this notebook can be the place
where you discover ‘the Zen of organizing\’ with me!
When
you look back over your life, which holiday stands out as your
favorite? Why? Please be specific. Was it the special mix of people? Or
were you enchanted by the location? Can you recreate some or all of
those elements? Be as specific as you can.
pretend that neither time nor money is an object for you, what would
you do this year to celebrate? Are you eager to avoid the family and
fly off to a tropical island? Would you like to see someone else cook
this year or would you like to host the family for the first time?
What\’s in your heart?
answer these questions, I have no doubt your Soul will reveal to you
exactly what would bring joy to you this year. There is always a way to
be creative and come up with a solution that will make everyone happy.
If you shake up the established expectations of others, you will be
giving them a gift. Your actions will be an invitation to them to honor
their own creativity!
May your celebrations this year be full of creativity, love and peace!
