Virginia Travel Guide: Jamestown, Monticello, Williamsburg & Wine Country with Kevin Clay (Virginia Tourism)

  1. Virginia Travel Guide: Jamestown, Monticello, Williamsburg & Wine Country with Kevin Clay (Virginia Tourism) Adriane Berg 27:12

Adventure and Wellness for the 60+ Traveler

Virginia is one of the most historically rich and food-forward destinations in the United States  and in this episode, I sit down with Kevin Clay, Communications Director at the Virginia Tourism Corporation, to unpack what makes the state a must-visit for history lovers, foodies, wine enthusiasts, and families alike.

We start at the beginning with Jamestown, the site of the first permanent English settlement in America, before heading to Mount Vernon, George Washington's iconic estate, and Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's architectural masterpiece in Charlottesville. From there, we explore Colonial Williamsburg, the living-history capital of the region, and Staunton, a walkable Shenandoah Valley gem known for its theater scene and small-town charm.

Kevin highlights Virginia's growing food and wine culture (one of the fastest-growing in the U.S.), and the deep traditions of Southern cuisine that run through it all.

We cover accessible travel, LGBTQ+-friendly destinations, family travel, and multigenerational “grandparent travel”.
