When it comes to style, is there too much freedom?

May 13th, 2010

Ruby slippers mean a lot to me, in part because I always wanted red shoes when I was a child and never got them. My mom believed in black patent leather, saddle oxfords and navy blue Keds – that was it! The slippers are also important to me because I believe... Read More

Mountains, Craters, Lakes, and Oceans: Ten Days in the Pacific Northwest on a Budget

May 12th, 2010

How does an all-inclusive (except airfare) ten-day trip to the Pacific Northwest for two adults for $2745 sound? Having lived most our lives on the East Coast and a decade or so in the Midwest, my husband, Roger, and I wanted to drive the glorious coast of Oregon and incorporate Crater Lake, Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, Mount Rainier National Park, and Redwood National Forest into our travels. So, I designed an itinerary that began and ended in Portland, Oregon (we drove 1,600 miles in total, but most of the scenery was breath-taking, so the journey was really an integral part... Read More

College Grads Thinking of Moving Home

May 12th, 2010

Empty Nesters and their chicks are sitting on a fence. No one really knows what will happen in regards to the job market or how long they will fluff their nest, again. Dad and I are thinking the way to share the space and responsibilities are to…… and then... Read More

3 Key Tips for Families with Loved Ones in a Nursing Home

May 12th, 2010

A few weeks ago, man by the name of Omar Cain posted a video on my Facebook page. One look at the video and I fell in love! After seeing his video, I just had to talk with him and find out more about him. Turns out Omar is a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) extraordinaire at the Golden LivingCenter in Stenton, PA. In addition to his CNA work, he also trains CNA students and those thinking about the field. What I found is a man lucky enough to have found his calling and the desire and ability to share what he knows with others in such a way that they are inspired too. With everyone as busy... Read More
